HYGIENE AND PREVENTION
Routine hygiene appointments and dental exams are the key to saving you time and money at the dentist.Read More
Regular dental exams help in preventing gum disease, cysts, cavities and bone loss. We recommend an exam and hygiene appointment every 6 months. During your visit a hygienist may take X-rays and Dr. Perrett or Dr. Reid will perform the majority of the exam by scanning all surfaces of your teeth and gums as well as previous restorations. This exam is our best chance to identify or prevent a problem before it becomes a larger problem.
Hygiene appointments include removal of tartar & plaque and polishing of the teeth. Waiting longer than six months between cleanings can make it more difficult to remove the plaque from your teeth. The hygienist and doctors will also discuss proper brushing and flossing habits with you. This is a good opportunity to ask questions about your personal dental hygiene, treatments and the best products to use for your teeth.
RESTORATION
When tooth decay exists, we provide restorative composite fillings, porcelain crowns, bridges and dentures to give you back your healthy smile.Read More
Sometimes our teeth decay, chip, break or just have an odd shape. Restorative dentistry helps to bring your teeth back to their natural appearance, shape, color and function. When something happens to your tooth, we will walk you through your options and discuss the right path for you to enhance your smile.
There are several reasons why patients choose dental restorations such as filling gaps, preventing the loss of a tooth, replacing missing teeth, relieving pain, correcting the bite, replacing old dental restorations, fixing chipped, cracked or decayed teeth and preventing loss of a tooth. Again, your doctor will consult with you on the best path to take to restore your teeth to new.
PERIODONTICS
We take time to properly diagnose gum disease and create a treatment plan.Read More
Periodontics focus on the structures that support your teeth such as your gums, bone and tissues that attach to the tooth. Periodontal disease (gum disease) can show up as bleeding gums, receding gum-lines, loose teeth, and draining infection.
There are non-surgical and surgical options for those with gum disease. Non-surgical options include scaling and root planning, which is a cleaning of the tooth root surfaces to remove tartar and plaque build up as well as toxins. We assess our patients on a case-by-case basis and in some cases, surgical measures must be taken at which time we will discuss your options and potentially refer out to a local Colorado Springs periodontal surgeon.
COSMETIC DENTISTRY
We can provide a full range of cosmetic procedures to help you achieve a beautiful, radiant smile.Read More
Cosmetic Dentistry is focused on providing you with a more beautiful smile through the enhancement of the appearance of your teeth, gums and bite. Through technological advancements in the dental industry, we are able to provide you with the smile you want through teeth whitening, bleaching, reshaping, bonding, bridges and veneers.
We use products that are safe and do not hurt the integrity of the enamel on your teeth when bleaching.
Tooth reshaping can be done when there is a small chip in the tooth or to change the general shape. We use tools that gently remove parts of the enamel to give your teeth an even, proportional appearance.
Bonding is the process of applying a tooth-colored resin to the tooth and using a special light to dry and ‘bond’ the resin with the tooth. Bonding can be an option when you have discoloration, a crack or chip in a tooth, widened spaces between teeth, decayed teeth or to change the shape of a tooth. Your doctor will consult you if this is the right option for you.
Bridges are essentially false teeth that are fused between two porcelain crowns. Bridges are used to fill the gaps when a tooth, or teeth, are missing. They are cemented in place and are not removable.
Veneers are porcelain facings often used in a smile makeover. They are used to correct both color and shaping problems in your teeth. Porcelain veneers are a good option when your teeth are oddly shaped, too big, too small or have uneven surfaces.
DENTAL IMPLANTS
Implants allow for the replacement of missing teeth as well as stabilizers for dentures. At our office we do both the surgical placement and the complete restoration of dental implants at our office in Colorado Springs.Read More
For many years, patients who were missing teeth only had the option of dentures or bridges but with advances in technology, we are able to replace the gap with dental implants. Implants are replacement tooth roots. Implants allow to create a foundation for permanent or removable replacement teeth that are made to match your natural teeth.
We have a very high success rate with our patients’ implants. They have worked to improve comfort, appearance, eating, speech and overall dental health. Our dentists will consult with you to determine if implants are right for your smile.
ENDODONTICS
Root canals are often performed to save a compromised tooth due to decay, fracture, or infection.Read More
Endodontics refers to the ‘pulp’ and tissues inside the root of the tooth. The most common practice within Endodontics is a root canal, which is performed to save a tooth that is severely broken, decayed or infected. If the offending tooth is left untreated, the tissue surrounding the tooth will become infected further and could become abscessed.
When performing a root canal, we remove the nerve and pulp then clean and seal the inside of the tooth. Root canals are common and have about a 95% success rate. After the procedure, there may be sensitivity of the tooth but we do all we can to provide tooth pain relief including a post root canal check up.
DENTAL (ORAL) SURGERY
Oral surgery is needed to extract teeth, or correct problems with the gums or underlying bone. Common instances include removal of wisdom teeth or preparing the mouth for dentures, or placing a dental implant.Read More
When no other alternatives remain, we at times have to result to tooth extractions or dental surgery. This can include removal of wisdom teeth, placing dental implants, preparing your mouth for dentures, fractured teeth or extreme decay and infection.
We do our best to eliminate any discomfort by thoroughly numbing the area, advising a post extraction regimen and patient follow up. We do all we can to make your experience as painless and comfortable as possible by accommodating your needs. We will refer you to a local oral surgeon for any procedure that would need sedation or is too complex.
While we do our best to keep your dental needs in one office for your convenience and care, we do enjoy great relationships with dental specialists and will refer out when appropriate and necessary.
